Asheville Trip
About one month ago we were able to take a fall trip to Asheville, NC. A good friend of mine from medical school eloped earlier in the pandemic and had a wedding celebration with family and friends this October. It was my first time vacationing in Asheville as an adult and I can see what all the hype is about. We spent a lot of time at the Biltmore Estate, which I am going to cover in a second blog post because we took so many pictures. We had a ton of great meals and I wish we were able to see go to more breweries. Luckily we were able to drink a lot of wine! The trees typically change in October, but this year we were a few weeks early for prime leaf peeping.
The first night we settled in and then we checked out Rocky's Hot Chicken Shake. It was 10/10 good. The chicken was fire and sides were perfect. We did try some North Carolina beers there too.
The second day was mostly a Biltmore day. Lots of walking and then lots of wine. Check back for Part 2 for more pictures :)
Then we had dinner a Bull and Beggar in the River Arts district. More wine and also delicious steak and halibut. We finished dinner with poached pears in pasty. This was such a great meal, I would love to go back because their menu changes frequently.
Wedding day was a full day! The ceremony was family only which means we had lots of time for shopping! We started the day off with breakfast at Five Points restaurant which is said to be a local favorite. I ate the biggest omelette of my life. Then we went through the Biltmore Village for shopping. I made Rett go to his first Christmas store where he found a lacrosse ornament.
We then spent the afternoon in Downtown Asheville. There was a farmer's market and live music on every corner. We got ice cream at Ben and Jerry's. Rett spent time in a Brewery while I check out all the boutiques. We walked a lot and enjoyed the fall air.
The reception was held in a private room at Bhramari Brewery. We drank gin cocktails and caught up with old friends and even fit in some dancing.
The last day we finished our culinary tour with breakfast at Biscuit Head. The line was long but moved fast and we ate some of the tastiest biscuits and coffee you could dream of.
We were definitely sad when it was time to go. Lucky for Rett he got to return a few weeks later for my brother in law's bachelor party and he snapped a few pictures of the leaves changing. And lucky for me, we plan to return next year for Rett's cousin's wedding.
XOXO-
Caro
