Salt Lake City Trip
A few weeks ago, Rett and I took a weekend trip to Salt Lake City, Utah. We were excited to get out of our town for a few days to see some fall weather. Arkansas has still been in the 80s so it definitely still feels like summer over here. We had spent a little time in Park City for ski season so we were excited to be in the mountains for the change of seasons. SLC did not disappoint. The air was crisp, the sunshine was bright. My biggest regret is that we didn't take a longer trip so we could have time to hike. We love the new SLC airport. It is beautiful and world class. We got to stay in terminal A (less walking than terminal B) and also got to enjoy Shake Shack at the airport with Rett LOVED.
We spent a lot of time driving around to see the areas. All the neighborhoods were so clean and cute. Lots of bungalows and cottages in the city, then more mid century homes up in the mountains.
What we loved the most was how close were were to the mountains. You felt like you could reach out and touch them. Here was the view from our hotel room.
We also explored a lot by foot. Sneakers were needed for all the walking.
We ate a great breakfast at the Park Cafe. They came highly recommended and did not disappoint. You could tell a lot of locals were there. We also got to see Lincoln Park which was right across the street. We love the little neighborhood and seeing all the families out and about.
We had another fantastic dinner at Stanza. I ate a delicious spicy mussel and clam pasta and we shared a bottle of wine.
We also shared cannolis, of course.
We saw as many tourist attractions as possible. I talked Rett into Temple Square which was huge! I did not understand how large it was and how much was there. Unfortunately the Mormon Temple was under construction so we will have to go back and see it when it is complete. I also talked Rett into shopping at across the street from Temple Square at City Creek Center. I liked that part way more than he did.
We went to the downtown farmer's market at Pioneer Park. This park is historic landmark as the old pioneer fort site.
I even talked Rett into seeing the Catholic Cathedral. There was a wedding about to start so we couldn't stay long, but the cathedral itself was beautiful.
The last day we went to Sweet Cakes Biscuits and Limeade. I almost did got because the concept was a little strange for me, but once we got there it was so worth it. We forgot to take pictures of our breakfasts before we scarfed them, but I did get a quick picture of our mint limeade which was the super refreshing. If you only have time for 1 breakfast in SLC, this is a don't miss.
We had such a great time I think we will definitely be back. Salt Lake City was such a great surprise and is now on my list of favorite cities.
XOXO-
Caro
